These aren’t your typical heavy, old-fashioned napkins.

Our story

It all began with my wedding and the struggle I (Abi) had to find napkins that weren’t old heavy linen, a terrible colour or extremely expensive. A search that turned out to be impossible until the day my wonderful mum (Jane) said, ‘well, we will make them ourselves then’. So 5 or so days of hard work later, we had our napkins. They looked beautiful and were exactly what I wanted.

But then, post-wedding, I was left with 80 light blue napkins, and I wasn’t sure what to do with them. We could sell them on, sure, but with all the effort it took to make them, what should we charge? So I wondered aloud on social media and had people messaging me straight away asking what I was doing with the napkins and could they have them. Turns out that I wasn’t the only bride struggling to find napkins for their perfect tablescape.

So on a Sunday evening, the 29th of May 2022 to be exact, Mum and I were sat drinking leftover wedding rosé, and we made the decision to rent them and not only rent the blue but make more and start a business. Enter ‘The Knotted Napkin Co.’

Created with care

All our products are created to a very high quality and are nearly identical, however, they are handmade and therefore there is a wonderful uniqueness to each piece. Each item has been made to a specification however there may be a slight variation in size, straightness of sewing, pattern, colour in fabric bolts and in hand-dyed items etc. These are part of the charm and look of the items, this makes them extra special.

“Thank you for the gorgeous napkins we hired from you for our wedding earlier in July. They looked absolutely perfect on our tables, and one maid of honour enjoyed watching YouTube tutorials on how to knot them! Have already directed some brides to you when they ask about napkins and will continue to do so.”
